Appearance

Miho is 5ft of deception. Below honeyed flesh and beauty that would stop people in their tracks, is pure sleek muscle. Long hair tumbles to her waist in loose curls, and she dresses in a way that adds to the illusion that she just walked out of a hiphop video. She has a young face and dark eyes, looking to be in her mid to late teens. She rarely wears makeup.(SL2, Pres2)

Background

Born in Nagoya on the 10th December, 1991, Miho grew up in a good part of town, with everything a girl could want as far as anyone could tell. Her father was a well off businessman, and to him appearance was everything.

Nara, Miho's mother, didn't work and instead stayed at home to look after her husband and children. She was also who the local women came to when they needed medicine but for whatever reason didn't want to, or couldn't, see a doctor instead. Her home-made remedies and traditional therapies were renowned among a lot of women in the community, and it was said that they had been handed down for generations through the female line, shrouded in secrecy. They certainly seemed to work.

Nara was endlessly thankful they worked when her husband came home from work drunk and angry, taking out the stresses of his life on the young woman. Love kept her there, love and fear. Miho grew up as mother's favourite, the only girl of four children. She was a stunningly beautiful child, inheriting her looks from Nara. She didn't inherit her mother's meek nature. There was fire in the girl's spirit, and the things that got thrown at her only seemed to make this stronger. She was a tomboy, too, and her father hated this. If she wanted to act like a boy, he said, he'd treat her like one - and so she too bore the force of his drunken rage. Nobody in the house escaped, but Nara did her best to balance out the hate in the family with love and kindness.

As Miho worked through the private school her father sent her to, she lost herself in music. Her friends were mostly boys, the hip hop crowd, she found it easier to relate to them and had more in common with most. She didn't neglect her studies, though, and threw herself into sports. She was on the lacrosse team. More activities meant more time away from home, more things to escape with.

As she started the change from child to woman, she was taught about her birthright. The healing her mother did didn't come from remedies, it came from within, a gift from above - and Miho would develop it too the same as her grandmother, great grandmother, and so on. With the healing came other things. Or perhaps they came in their own right. Nara could perceive thoughts, but she only did so to help her diagnose sickness, or to help people.

Miho wasn't quite so dedicated. She could read her father now, not much but enough, enough to know when to get her and Nara out of the way. She found she could make herself stronger for a while, and although it wasn't much at first, one day she knew she'd be able to fight back and have it mean something.

Outside home, things continued and changed, but Miho wasn't becoming a woman like her mother hoped. She hung around with boys just as much, but she didn't care about them like the other girls did, they were just friends. She found herself instead thinking about the girls in her class, and the things she thought frightened her.

As she hit her mid teens, Miho found another girl, Raina, who felt the same way, and the two explored things together. Everything was secret from everyone who wasn't the two girls, but that made it all the more exciting. They fell in love and spent every minute together that they could.

Of course, they had to be caught, and one day they were. One of the popular girls discovered the two kissing in an empty classrooom and by the end of the day the news had spread throughout the entire school.

It was fight or hide, and Miho's pride wouldn't let her take the easy coward's way out. She was scared, but the two of them stuck together and came out. The rest of the time in school from then on became more like a prison sentence, but it was worth it. Miho did her best to protect the, as she saw it, delicate Raina. There were a lot of fights, and a lot of worse things, but Miho always came through okay. Her spirit never wavered, and the other schoolkids eventually learnt she wouldn't back down - so they did somewhat.

Then Miho met Bridget. The woman who would change her life. While staying with her grandmother over summer they met a few times, talked and seemed to get on really well, Miho quickly falling for the exotic older girl. Lying about her age so as not to put Bridget off, she claimed to be 19 and at university. Despite the girl having a boyfriend, Miho hoped she'd somehow sway her mind - believing even more when they kissed for the first time.

Although Bridget gave away information about what she was, Miho thought it was a joke, or a delusion. She certainly didn't believe it. She didn't believe it until Bridget force-fed her vitae in a failed effort to ghoul her. Miho freaked and nearly fell into the arms of the other gaijin she'd become friendly with as Katrina played agony aunt. Especially after one evening when Bridget invited Miho back to 'talk things over' - which culminated in attempted murder and an unlikely rescuer in the shape of Maya, as well as a somewhat enforced second step bond.

Nevertheless, Katrina preferred to air laundry in public than to steal Miho, fast losing interest. Despite being persuaded to go the full three steps by Garrick and Maya - Bridget too lost interest, refusing to allow Miho to do it. The end of summer holidays came and Bridget wasn't answering phone calls. A chance encounter during Winter holidays left Miho knowing Bridget no longer wanted her at all, though she didn't give reasons why, Miho strongly suspected the other girl was 'serious' with the boy she was with, and that she herself placed second. Happy with the freedom she kept, though regretting losing Raina over the mess, Miho wondered at just how safe she was should any Kindred realise or remember that she was never fully bound or ghouled, especially after a run-in she can't explain with a man she'd never knowingly met before who forced her to drink his blood.

Not long ago, the time came to bring out the secret of her sexuality at home, Miho knew it was a bad idea before she did it, but she couldn't stand living a lie anymore. She did the deed, and after a lot of dutch courage, came out to her parents. Rather unsurprisingly, her mother insisted she loved her no matter what, but that she was just disappointed and what about grandchildren? Her father, even more unsurprisingly, didn't take it well at all. Long story short, there were bruises to heal and it was decided it would be for the best if Miho went to live with her grandmother, her father refusing to have her in the house and Nara worrying for her daughter's safety.
