Character Description

Stands 5' nothing, very petite, obviously young looking. Her hair is chesnut brown and chin length with long bangs sweeping across her hazel eyes. Her outfit very college bohemian with tattered jeans, crossword pattern converse chuck taylors, a band shirt with a sweater over top for the cold weather. She is half-Japanese/American. Character Background

Juno Winters is a simple girl, raised bohemian, in a city more traditional than her family. Her father, Tanako, who was originally born in Hiroshima, immigrated to Alaska with his mother and father when he was only 6. There he went to school, learned English and met his soul mate, Juno's mother, Aine. Growing up together, they were both very free spirited and liberal, protesting for Green Peace organizations during the day, then sitting and reading poetry to each other at night. The couple finally married after they finished high school and hopped on the first plane to relocate to Japan. Unfortunately, because of a bad snow storm, there were no planes leaving or coming into Juneau, Alaska. The happy newlyweds, spent the night in Juneau's airport, making use of every private place they could find.

About a month after arriving in Tokyo, Japan, Aine was suspicious that she was with child. When she went to the doctor and confirmed, they traced back the date of conception. Since the child was conceived while they were snowed in, in Juneau, Alaska, Aine thought it was fitting to name her after their hometown, except spelling it J-U-N-O.

February 14, 1989, Juno May Winters was brought into the world early in the morning. Since Aine didn't take Tanako's surname after they were wed, Tanako thought it was best that Juno keep the same last name as her mother, especially since she was more American looking than Japanese.

Juno's life of course had the same hardships that any kid growing up has. Girls picking on her either because she wasn't as pretty as them or because she was half American, half Japanese. This never discouraged her though, she learned to stand up for herself and never coware to them. Integrity was the only way to stay sane in a completely insane world. Though she was shy, she made friends, mostly with boys and continued her childhood like any normal kid, filled with a warm heart and a loving home.

Her junior year in high school, she became more of a hippy artist than ever. Her best friend Sukayo, showed her a whole new meaning to the word, freedom. He introduced sex, drugs, alcohol, punk and rock and roll.

After she graduated high school, she started going to University, majoring in Musical Arts and got the one thing that most teenagers hate, a job. She worked as a waitress at a local coffee shop, where she also sang and played on open mic night. Often she can be found there or around Tokyo.
