background

Jamon Porter Blackman A.K.A. J.P. Blackman was born in L.A. on August 22nd 1945. James was a huge child, he was that kid that everyone was scared of but pushed around anyway. He was a nice guy never really hurting anyone and feeling horrible whenever he did. He was raised alone by his kind father until around the age of 15, when he died in a car accident. J.P.'s dad had owed a large debt to one of the L.A. gangs and they wanted to collect, J.P. had to start working for them. As a result his grades suffered and he eventually had to drop out. It took J.P. 3 years to get out of debt with the gang. As soon as he got out he tried to take control by proving he could beat the gang boss in a fight. The fight started in the gang bosses favourite bar, J.P. chose this location because no one there was allowed to carry a gun while inside, and J.P. had never gotten the hang of guns. The fight didn't last long because as soon as the fight started the police raided the bar. The gang boss was able to escape but J.P. was knocked out and woke up in a cell. The police were going to charge him with assault with a deadly weapon, and intent to deal narcotics; Apparently the bar was suspected of distributing drugs and the fight sparked the raid an hour before it was supposed to happen. J.P.'s choice was prison, or the military.

J.P. didn't like Staff Seargent Griswald but there was no way this could be worse than prison. It wasn't all bad, J.P. was finally understanding how to use guns, he'd never be great but he could at least use one now. Where he thrived in boot camp was in close combat training which saved his life in Vietnam on more than one occasion. While in Vietnam he was an infantryman and stayed for the most part to himself. The only person he really talked to was Vipus, he found Vipus' blunt form of honesty to be fairly refreshing, if annoying at times. After Vipus was discharged for injuries, J.P. was annoyed, but stayed in for the rest of his term until 1969.

After Vietnam, J.P. didn't really know what to do other than collect his check. He did some travelling, but there never seemed to be much of a point. Soon he went back to L.A. and opened a 24 hour pawn shop buying anything. It was mostly a front so he could have weapons and be able to sell them to gangs. He was soon trusted as a good dealer who always followed through with deals and made sure nothing would ever get back to his clientele ... if they paid. 24 hours a day in a pawn shop alone was very boring, so J.P. would ask Vipus to come over so they could hang out, and sometimes Vipus would keep the shop open when J.P. would have business to attend to. One such night J.P. was selling some weapons to a very reliable client named Johnny whom J.P. had helped on several occasions, everything was going well until what looked like some gangmembers attacked. There was something strange about them, one was faster than J.P. had ever seen anyone move before, and another took a shotgun blast to the chest without going down. J.P. tried to hold them off, but fairly quickly knew he was in trouble when he took a hit that launched him across the room and everything started getting hazy. The next thing he knew Johnny was standing over him cursing and he was a vampire.

Johnny was a member of the sworn of the axe and another friend of vipus after much talking and a mild fight they had him join the ordo saying he would make a good axe someday due to his long line of almost suicidal loyalty to his friends. for the first few years he was seen as a subpar student and didnt make much headway in the ordo until the early ninties. During the L.A. riots he defended a chapter house at Vipus' prodding which elevated him to the ranks of the Sworn of the Axe. Since then he has kept his pawn shop running and has made minor steps in the coils. He has started a minor collection of axes, and medieval texts just to keep himself interested as goes night to night. He is currently trying to get a first edition copy of the "Divine Comedy". After a few years of working as a wyrms nest guardian for the ordo and other odd jobs he decided to try and track down vipus and after finding out he moved to japan from the local dragons he decided to suprise his old friend and move his business and home to tokyo.
