This is a page about quitting school and the age requirements of it. The minimum age someone can leave school in Japan is 15. If your character is a Japanese citizen, this is the minimum age they may leave. This is also the minimum age anyone, regardless of nationality may leave. If your character is the citizen of another country, and the minimum age to quit school is higher, the character is bound by that. If the age is lower, the character is bound by Japanese law. So, for example, the age of leaving school is 18 in your country of origin, the earliest you may quit school in Japan is 18. If the age of leaving school is 12 in your country of origin, the earliest you may leave school in Japan is 15. Below is a list of some popular country choices for age of leaving school. North America

Range: 14-18

  • United States: 18 (This varies by state between 16-18)
  • Canada: 16
  • Mexico: 15
  • Caribbean: 14-16


Europe

Range: 14-17

  • United Kingdom: 16-18 (12 year olds and over is 16, 11 year olds is 17, 10 year olds is 18)
  • France: 16


Asia

Range: 10-18
