Character Background

1942
Elyaina was born in 1942 to a unique ghoul family known as the Matheiu. They are a much smaller foreign counterpart to the Crassus family. Often times vampires confused the two for their direct similarities. Though they had many similar interests (power, wealth, and influence) this family was very unique in two ways. One was their unique determination, and secondly their advantage differs from that of the Crassus family. The advantage this family developed: was the ability to alter their flesh. They began to experiment more and more with themselves learning to alter their appearance until eventually it became so ingrained in the family that the children were being born with this ability. They further honed the ability to work on others as well as themselves.

In the mid 1850's this branch left Paris (a city they still today hold a place in) in search of a new, industrializing place to get in on the ground floor, and hopefully gaining influence along the way as the Mathieu do. They found what they were looking for in Japan. The country itself was for the first time opening its doors to the rest of the world while their industrial revolution occurred. This small group, led by Elyaina's father, moved to the new country and set up lives for themselves.

The estate of Alexandre Mathieu grew over the next nine generations into a sprawling complex of a home. The family accepted new people (almost all Japanese) into them through breeding, quickly causing the population of the family to grow. In recent nights there are around 50 living in the estate.

Elyaina was the 12th child for her father, and the 2nd for her mother. Her mother was her father's 8th wife. He produced children with each, leaving Elyaina 13 brothers and sisters total. Her mother, Katherine was an offspring of a basically french line inside the family. When she was 21 she was married to Alexandre. Elyaina was incredibly close to her mother and brother as most children are of that age. She never became close to her father in the same way. She adored her mother in every way. Katherine suffered depression, and often fought with Alexandre over every little thing. She didn't agree with how he was raising his children, and never would. At the age of 30 she finally took her own life, leaving behind a very frightened little girl.

1951
Elyaina was so traumatized by her mother's death that she couldn't cope with it. Her father didn't have time to spend with her, and eventually she was sent to Montreal to live with her mother's sister in hope of her getting over her mother's death. She never entirely recovered and spent most of her life in Montreal.

1966
At the age of 24 she was ghouled by a woman with so little concern for her ghoul's well being that Elyaina quickly became depressed. The kindred had chosen her to be a breeder with her favorite ghoul. Chevalier, her Regnant, taught Elyaina much about her covenant, the Lancea Sanctum. Using her as a sort of living library of information. After a few years Elyaina could no longer stand her place as a servant, but she was perpetually trapped with her. She ran away, going home again and again, sometimes Chevailer let her stay for years at a time, but eventually she would bring her back. It took almost 20 years for Elyaina to finally grow so tired of her on again, off again relationship with her Regnant, that she ran away from the area entirely, forsaking her home in hopes of starting a new life.

1986
The first place she found herself was in Seattle, Wa. She followed some of her more hedonistic cousins there. Once emerged in the Seattle culture she began to reinvent herself as far as fashion and style went, getting into the punk movement. She soon began to use her voice to front a band with her cousins called "Siren's Call". She spent the next 16 years getting to know herself, going through different vampires to keep herself ghouled, and learning more about her family's stakes across the globe.

2002
Early in 2002 Elyaina made the mistake of coming home to her family in Montreal. She had hoped that her regnant had moved on, no longer wanting anything to do with her, but she was wrong. Chevalier quickly retook her ghoul, and forced Elyaina into an even more dismal fate. She kept her locked up day and night for the entire year until she finally needed someone to talk to the head of the Montreal estate. When she was sent to her former home Elyaina took the chance to run.

2003
Afraid of being found, she found herself in the last possible place she could imagine Chevalier looking for her: Nashville, TN. That is where she met Maliq, a Bruja. She quickly became his most trusted and well loved ghoul. He treated her like a student in training for the embrace rather than a servant and she quite enjoyed that. He made use of the information she was taught as well. She met Ben, a man in his late twenties whom she fell in love with. She was happy with Ben, Maliq, and his coterie until one day Elyaina became pregnant. Her regnant was furious, he immediately beat her, and threatened to embrace or kill her. She barely survived that day, and unfortunately the child did not. Things were never the same between Maliq and Elyaina after that. Slowly Elyaina grew the courage to leave him. In the time it took for her to be able to leave the entire coterie had moved from Nashville to Los Angeles. When she finally found the courage and the right moment she ran from him, and made her way back to Nashville, looking for the love she had left behind.

2006
When she found Ben, he was in love with another; she was heart broken and left him alone. That is when she met Asuka, a woman her regnant had hated, and she had believed was as awful as he had said. When she found out that his hatred was unjustified, she befriended her, becoming her ghoul. She grew to love and trust her over time. Ben finally admitted he had been in love with Elyaina all along, and he left the other woman. They spent the next year together in Nashville, eventually having a commitment ceremony.

One day word came from her family telling her that her father's regnant had died, they said his grandchilde was coming take her place. Astonishingly, that grandchilde turned out to be Asuka, her regnant. Elyaina made plans with Ben, and his newly formed family to move with Asuka to Japan in order to look after Elyaina's family home in Tokyo.

Character Description

Elyaina is a light skinned french girl in her late teens. She has long, silky brown hair with red highlights, deep blue eyes which upon closer inspection have flecks of violet causing them to sparkle brilliantly and a delicate, but lovely and lightly curved 5' tall, 90lb frame. She speaks with a captivating french accent. She has a gentle, curious nature. (Sexualized, Striking Looks: 4, Obfuscate 2)
