Rules for Shelving Characters
On Original Sin we do allow you to shelve characters from time to time. This is basically set up for when the population of similar characters is too low or too unfriendly for you to play your character properly. You must come in and ask to have the character shelved, note us, whatever you need to do to be sure we got the message. This then frees up the slot that the character you had used, allowing you to make another character. You may not play a shelved character for any reason without talking to an ST first, and the answer will likely be no. You may only have one shelved character at a time.
Retiring Characters
If you would like to retire a character please come to #help and ask for details. This is permanent. Once a character is retired they may not return to game play again.
Erase Dates
The current erase date for the game is 30 days of inactivity. This means 30 days you do not go in character, hunting does not prevent this from happening. You must actually go ic once every 30 days or you will lose your character. If you know you will not be able to do this you may put your character on vacation mode and it will be saved until you return.
Vacation Mode
Vacation mode is set up for people going away for 3 weeks to 6 months plus. This is in order to keep your character from being erased. You must see a ST and ask to be set on vacation mode, note us, e-mail us etc for this to happen. It doesn't matter how you ask as long as you are sure we get the message to do it.
Losing a character to unwanted death
This rule is designed to take the sting out of character death. If you lose a character due to unwanted combat, or it is removed for some reason beyond your control you may use that character's SAVED xp toward a new character. This does not include all of your character's overall xp, but only the unspent or saved xp it currently has. For example: Bob has 60xp overall, he has 20xp saved. Sharon kills Bob's character. Bob then gets 20 bonus xp for his next character.
Note: You may ask for this on retiring a character, but you must ask permission before making the new character. If you forget, submit a character and say "Oh btw..." we will not give you the xp.
